GoodNotes App Reviews

EDITING FUCNTION IS FINALLY HERE!!!

Thank you for bringing the editing function to the OS X app! Love it! <3

Tremendous for Teaching and Presentations

Extremely easy to use in combination with iPad Pro and Apple Pencil annotations while giving lectures. Now that the Mac app allows editing and use of ink, say with a Wacom tablet, Goodnotes is an excellent system that allows documents to be freely moved from iPad to Mac and back and edited on either.

Swiched to this application from another, LOVE IT!

Goodnotes has come up from behind and taken the lead in this student’s humble opinion. The data organization is superior, handwriting and palm sensativity is awesome and compatibility with Apple pencil is very good. The new update features handwriting recognition in the search, which is good but it would be perfect if it had a recognition on the fly algorythm. Overall, I a convert.

A Great Update Hindered By Unreliable iCloud Sync

Very pleased that this latest update has added the ability to edit and create documents on the Mac. And while the newly added features still lack a few of the features available on iOS, it is a great start towards evolving the Mac version of the app. And the implentation of these features is exactly what you would want it to be - straighforward and intuitive. However, the iCloud syncing is not working for me. Changes made often either don’t upload to iCloud or, if they do, they don’t necessarily download to other devices. Given all of my past negative experiences trying to use iCloud, I am fairly certain that this is an iCloud issue and not an issue with the app itself. But unfortunately, in the end, either way it is the same result - I can’t trust the app.

Please add writing/drawing functions as soon as possible.

It’s good to have your new updates. Only one feature I want you to add is the line/triangle/rectangle mode that I can easily draw straight lines or highlights. That’s all.

One of My Top 3 Apps for Creativity (I’m a professional artist)

I’ve used this app for just about everything graphic, from mind mapping to making calligraphic labels for my website, to creating fonts, to drawing plans for remodelling our house and for just simply drawing with. It’s so bright fast and easy to use. More specifically, it keeps up with my thoughts without getting in the way. This is one of the smartest, most creative apps ever... and I’ve tried 100’s, literally, looking for the best of the best to make art with. Anyway, Goodnotes is an out of sight creative tool. And one more thing— this is only the third app review I’ve ever written since iPad One, 5 iPads ago. PS. I haven’t used it much on my iMac or Macbook Air yet…My experience has been all iPads so far.

iCloud sync too slow

I like the new functionality (to annotate and insert pictures on the Mac). But I found the iCloud sync is way too slow (compare with iOS). Not sure why, It’s faster to upload changes on the iPad app, but much slow to do so on the Mac. This becomes a problem because I like to took screenshot and insert the image on the Mac, and then use the iPad to annotate with pencil. But the it took a few mins for the sync to complete. I will rate it 5 stars if this issue is solved

Very Happy - but yeah, sync speed could be faster

Five stars from me because I “It’s Great” rather than “good”. Dumped all my other note taking ipad and Mac apps for GoodNotes. Seeing sync results a little faster between my Mac and iPad would really get me excited. Looking forward to more good things from GoodNotes.

Lacks local storage option

I like having a OSX application companion that allows me to read & search over notes I took using my iPad. For IP sensitive notes however using iCloud for sync is not an option. I can transfer goodnotes files securely using corporate mail + VPN or even iTunes sync over wi-fi/USB. I can open such files on my Mac, but I cannot archive them on a local library. Please add the capability to manage local libraries! Thanks.

excellent app

best in class note taking app. use it every day, it is absolutely the best one on the app store. i tried them all, deleted them all and use this one. cut and paste screen shots, annotate over top, export to pdf, icloud syncing. fantastic app! (other reviewers are whiners.) the only thing i wish for is the i could have 2 pages displayed in landscape mode on my ipad pro. that would be stellar.
